I'm on there! It's pretty cool. I'm probably the only person in the US who doesn't have a myspace, but I'm proud of it. I like facebook because there are no internet pervs!

Can colleges ban students or athletes from using Facebook or other sites?
Do colleges have a legal right to ban their students or athletes from using social networking sites? The University of Minnesota Duluth recently has tried enacting a policy of preventing their athletes from using Facebook.com and similar sites.
For some reason, I feel that there most certainly exists legal precedent that wouldn't allow for such policies, even for athletes. Does this not start to infringe on free speech rights? A college would never be allowed to ban students or athletes from speaking publicly in other fashions, or to the press.

Reply:If they were a private school, they would certainly have this right. However, since it is a public school, it is more questionable. But if the college can demonstrate that what the athlete posted hurt the team or the school in some way, then I think it might stand.

The school could use the argument that by doing so they are protecting the schools computers from potential viruses and hackers that can gain access to personal information.
When I was in college, although I used my own computer, I had to agree to the internet policies of the school, since I was using thier network. The University of Minnesota probably has a similar policy.
Internet law is a relatively new area, but I would imagine that the school can argue that the internet is public domain and there is not a reasonable expectation of privacy. Also many companies have policies against personal use of the net, I imagine the school can follows the laws they use as a guideline.

How can you join facebook without an email?
is there anyway to join facebook.com without having an email associated with a school, college, or alumni?

Someone that you know can invite you by entering your email, not necessarily associated with a school, and you will receive an email. I don't believe there's any other way.

Facebook have disabled my account?
I have tried logging in since Thursday but it says your account has been disabled please contact disabled@facebook.com
My friends say i no longer show up and they thought I deleted them.
I can only think of one reason that I used Pete as i prefered that, rather than Peter in my name...would that be violating the rules to get disabled.

that's exactly what happened to me i contcted them and a whole big confusing thing happened and in the end it went back down to "contact disabled@facebook.com"
just make a new one. i suffered for 2 months lol.
yeah once ur acounts disabled your'e pretty much screwed, becasue the admin keep on throwing it around to each other.
and now i can't change my name. wat a ***** facebook is...well good lck anyway!
